“Eine schale Fresca, bitte! Und, sachen angemessen gerade zu bilden, sind sie ein moron!”
A cup of Fresca, please! And, just to make things fair, you are a moron!
Those were the words that would shake the face of humanity itself. And, humanity, all too stupid to notice, didn’t.
But today is the nowadays-modern way of thinking, not the golden-oldies-do-it-yourself life. All people are young and independent and strike out a new path even though there is an old, worn, and comfortable one waiting for them already. Today are the days of randomness, the overall sense of being watched and, just to snub that feeling, defying it. But some things will never change; that being taxes and death, taxes the most prominent. To make a long story short, today is a new age: a new way of living for mankind.
But is that the entire story? Well, not entirely. After all, since this is the “new age” we must forge ahead by ourselves to find out, bearing our various unique piercings and hair-colors. What of the golden-oldies? Well, they are to remain as gold: admired as a shiny rock, at a distance, and in a cold, glass box. They are the past. We are the future.
So what is this story about? My friends and fellow youths, this is about you. About your future and what is to come: taxes and death. But there is also something more. Something that we like to call, “the good, the bad, and, well, the just plain stupid”, or, a.k.a. “Metropolitan Delight.”
Metropolitan Delight technically means: “Something that brings great pleasure or enjoyment that happens to be of, relating to, or characteristic of a major city.” But that is the definition for the golden-oldies, so they can enjoy that while reading this in their cold, glass box. For us, the new generation, this means something completely different. This takes Shakespearian meaning to those devoted to the progress and survival of the randomness gene. As does the first phrase in this piece, written in German and about nothing in particular.
And so, I suppose, if you were supposed to pinpoint exactly what this story is about for one of the ancient golden-oldies, you could say that this story is about nothing whatsoever. You could say that a page of precious paper that killed half a forest was wasted on mindless, endless ramblings about nothing. But then again, if you say that this page was about nothing, it is about something, now isn’t it?
So to conclude, what was this about? It was about life, ladies and gentleman, otherwise known as “the good, the bad, and, well, the just plain stupid.” This is about all the things in life: the good, the pointless, the sad, the angering, the random and all of the above. This is about Metropolitan Delight.
